Media Products

Requirements to Create Media products in the CMS:

  • Media Products require unique codes and names

  • Media Products can import dimensions in the standard Cylindo format (Height, Width, Length, Units in separate single fields)

  • Content imported into a Media Product will exist within the External Media tab.

  • The images that are supported are JPEG, JPG, PNG, HEIC (not ideal, since its only supported on apple devices), TIF, TIFF

How to create a single media product:

  1. Go to the Product list, and click on the “New Product” button

  2. Select the “Media Product” type on the dropdown

  3. Add the required information (Name and code)

  4. Click on “Create new product”

  5. The Empty product is created and now you can add external media by dragging and dropping or browsing your computer

Uses of media products 

Once the media products are created, they can be leveraged multiple ways:

  • Media products can be added to a New Product batch in order to use their external media as reference files. Adding a Media product to a batch changes the type of product from Media product into Production (3D master asset)

  • Media products can be used as entities to distribute external media by using the Cylindo Curator, they can be integrated from day 1 allowing new customers to integrate early in the process tackling this issue from the get go and resolving integration issues. We also see external media and media products as the source for silo product images that can be enhanced by our AI workflows allowing for the distribution of this content (Q2 2026)

Updating the Thumbnail image of a media product

When you upload external media, the first image becomes automatically the thumbnail of your Media Product, if you want to change it to another image, just make sure that image is inside that media product as external media, then:

  1. Click on the three action dots on the specific image you want to use as the thumbnail, and then select set as thumbnail.

  2. Done! When you see the product on lists and such, your updated thumbnail will be visible.

Bulk importing Media Products

To upload a large number of Media Products at once, reach out to your Success team for details. To begin the process, expect the Cylindo team to request one of the two options below:

  1. CSV of your product list, dimensions, and the associated public URLs of all images that need to be uploaded. (Recommended)

  2. Written approval to use a web-scraping tool that will collect the product list and public URLs of product imagery from your website.

    • Note: You will need to review and confirm the collected data before our team is able to begin the bulk import and creation of Media Products in the CMS.
