Content API on Product Listing Page

Loaf is Using Cylindo Content API to Filter Fabrics and Colors on the Product Listing Page

One of the largest advantages of creating your very own 3D library is the ability to leverage 3D visuals beyond the 360 HD Viewer and the product page.

In the Cylindo PowerUse category, we’ll be exploring different use cases to help you and your teams make the most of your Cylindo content library.

The UK DTC brand, Loaf, is a champion when it comes to repurposing Cylindo 3D content at multiple touchpoints, online and in-store.

Here’s a short overview of how Loaf is using Cylindo Content API to enable fabric and color filtering on the product listing page (PLP) and vastly improve the user experience.

What is Loaf doing?

Loaf is repurposing Cylindo 3D visuals to display as furniture models/thumbnails on the PLP (product listing page).

The PLP is a starting point for a majority of buyers in the consideration phase and thus a vital touchpoint in the buying process. Providing visitors with a good experience on the PLP may largely influence their purchase decision!

Here’s how that experience looks like on the Loaf website:

  1. Once visitors begin browsing through products (e.g. sofas), there are multiple filtering options available at the top of the product listing page. The multiple filtering options are already amazing at enabling buyers to find the exact product they are looking for!

  2. One particularly handy filter is the fabric filter.

  3. Using this filter, users can browse through hundreds of different fabrics by feature, type, and color.

  4. Once they select a fabric/color they like, then all available products in that particular fabric/color are showcased in a consistent manner. Notice how the images are represented in the same angle, lighting, shadowing, etc.

Main benefits

There are several key benefits of doing this:

  • Massively improving the user experience on the PLP

  • Creating on-brand product photography at no additional cost

  • Effortlessly achieving visual consistency across the whole website

How is Loaf doing that?

The materials and color filter on the Loaf PLP is dynamically served via the Cylindo Content API.

Loaf is using Cylindo Content API  to feed the  images on the Loaf product listing page. The materials and colors on the PLP are an exact match to those in the Loaf Cylindo content library.

Then, as buyers select different fabrics and colors, all available sofas in that particular fabric and/or color are displayed in a synchronized manner, following the same style, angle, and size (at scale). This is achieved through the Cylindo Content API, which serves the view of the Loaf sofas in a new fabric color based on a simple feature change parameter.

As buyers select different fabrics and colors, the products are automatically updated with materials and colors from the Cylindo content library.

Loaf is able to do this with Cylindo 3D visuals without spending additional resources on creating on-brand PLP photography.
