Media Product Integration in Quickshot

Overview

Media Product Integration in Quickshot enables users to create and publish lifestyle visuals for products that do not yet have a Cylindo Master Asset (MA) — whether because a Master Asset is not required for that product, or because MA creation is still in progress.

This flow allows teams to move forward with visual production without being blocked by asset availability, ensuring continuity in both client workflows and internal demonstrations.

This article walks you through:

  1. How Media Products appear and behave within Quickshot

  2. How to create a new Media Product and what to expect once it is live

  3. How to use Curator with Media Products and Quickshot lifestyle visuals

  4. Known limitations to be aware of before getting started

Glossary

TermDefinition

Master Asset (MA)

A fully processed 3D product asset created by Cylindo. It serves as the foundation for generating configurable, high-quality product visuals within the Cylindo platform. A Master Asset is required for the 3d Quickshot workflow; the Media Product integration exists specifically for cases where no MA is available.

Media Product (MP)

A product representation based on existing imagery you own — such as silo shots or lifestyle photography. Media Products allow users to create and publish visuals in Quickshot without a processed 3D asset, making them suitable for products where MA creation is not planned or not yet complete.

Quickshot

Cylindo's visual production tool, enabling users to create, manage, and publish lifestyle images for products. Quickshot supports both standard Master Asset-based workflows and the Media Product integration covered in this article.

Curator

Tool within the Cylindo platform that allows users to compile and organise a set of visuals — including those built from Media Products — into a structured PDP (Product Detail Page) experience.

Master Asset vs. Media Product

Both product types can be featured together within the same Quickshot image, giving teams full flexibility in how they compose lifestyle visuals.

Part a: Media Products in Quickshot

How Media Products Appear in the Interface

Media Products and Master Asset products share the same product list in Quickshot. To help users identify product types at a glance, each product displays a label beneath its name indicating whether it is a Master Asset or a Media Product.

The product list can also be filtered by product type, allowing users to quickly narrow down to Media Products or Master Assets depending on their workflow.

Filtering the Product List

To filter by product type:

  1. Open the 2d Canvas in Quickshot.

  2. Apply the product type filter clicking on the Filter icon

  3. Select Media Product or Master Asset to narrow the list accordingly.

View all images for a Media Product

You can view all images associated with a Media Product directly in Quickshot by clicking the icon in the top-left corner of the product thumbnail. Once an image is loaded onto the canvas, you can remove its background directly from the canvas controls.

Combining Media Products and Master Assets in the Same Visual

One of the key capabilities of this integration is the ability to place both a Media Product and a Master Asset within the same Quickshot scene. This allows teams to compose lifestyle visuals that mix product types — for example, featuring a hero product with a full Master Asset alongside supporting products represented as Media Products.

Both product types are added to the canvas in the same way and can be positioned, scaled, and layered together within a single visual.

The inherent limitations of Media Products — namely the lack of configurability and rotation — can be effectively mitigated in multi-product visuals. When paired with a Master Asset, the MA can be rotated and scaled to match the perspective and framing of the Media Product image, resulting in a cohesive and convincing lifestyle visual without requiring a fully processed asset for every product in the scene.

After a Quickshot visual is generated you can edit it and publish it to make it available in the Curator.

⚠️ Quickshot visuals can only be published from the Quickshot interface

At this time, Quickshot visuals must be published directly from the Quickshot interface in order to become available in the Curator. Publishing from other entry points is not currently supported.

🔒 Note for Internal Cylindo Users: The experience of browsing and using Media Products in Quickshot is the same as for clients. However, the Media Product creation flow includes additional settings and fields only available to internal users. This is covered in detail in Part b.

Part b: Creating a New Media Product

For All Users

Step 1 — Open the New Product form

In Quickshot, click the New Product button. This will redirect you to your Assets page where the product creation form is located.

Step 2 — Fill in the product details

Enter the following information:

  • Product name — the display name for the product

  • Product code — the unique identifier for the product

  • Dimensions (optional) — physical dimensions of the product

Step 3 — Upload your product images

Add any images you own of the product. These can be silo shots or lifestyle photography.

💡 Tip: Images with a solid background are preferable. A clean background makes it easier to remove it on the 2D canvas, allowing you to position the product more precisely and compose more effective multi-product visuals. Note that the background removal feature may also work on lifestyle images, provided the main subject is clearly distinguishable from the rest of the scene.

Step 4 — Set a thumbnail

Once the product is created, open it and locate the image you want to use as the product thumbnail. Click the kebab menu (⋮) on that image and select Set as thumbnail. The thumbnail can be changed at any time.

Additional Steps for Internal Cylindo Users

🔒 This section applies to Internal Cylindo users only.

Step 2a — Select the correct product type

When filling in the product creation form, Internal users must explicitly select Media Product as the product type. This will update the form with additional fields, which can be left at their default values in most cases.

Part c: Creating a Curator with Media Products and Visuals

Step 1 — Open the Curator and edit the product list

From the Curator interface, open the product list by clicking Edit. This will open a modal where you can search and add products to the Curator.

To focus on Media Products, use the Product Type filter to display only Media Products in the list.

Step 2 — Add your products

Select the products you want to include in the Curator — these can be Media Products, Master Asset products, or a mix of both.

Step 3 — Select content types for each product

Once products are added, select the content types you want to showcase for each product in the PDP (Product Detail Page) experience.

Available content types vary by product type:

Content TypeMaster Asset (MA)Media Product (MP)

360° spin / rendered frames

Quickshot visuals

External Media (uploaded images)

Dimension Shots

AR

💡 Media Products currently support External Media and Quickshot visuals only. Additional content types will be available in future updates.

Known Limitations & Disclaimer

⚠️ This section outlines current limitations of the Media Product integration. These are subject to change as the feature evolves.

1. No image rotation interaction

If a Media Product has multiple images of a product taken from different angles, there is currently no interactive frame-switching to simulate rotation. This is in contrast to Master Asset products, where users can cycle through rendered frames. Each image is static and must be selected manually.

2. Background removal is not persistent

When a Media Product image is added to the 2D canvas, background removal must be applied each time. It is not retained between sessions or canvas placements. This will be addressed in a future update.

3. Manual image selection required

Images are not yet classified by type (e.g. front, side, detail). As a result, manual image selection is required for each Media Product, as well as for images associated with a Cylindo Master Asset.

4. Limited content types for Media Products

Media Products currently support only External Media (uploaded images) and Quickshot visuals in the Curator. Content types such as 360° spin, AR, and Dimension Shots are not available for Media Products and require a Cylindo Master Asset.

5. Terminology is evolving

The naming conventions used for Media Products and Master Assets are current as of this article's publication and may be updated over time. We will keep this documentation in sync with any terminology changes.

6. Media Products cannot be deleted

Media Products cannot be deleted at this time. Please reach out to your Customer Success representative to remove any unwanted Media Products you have created. This will be addressed in a future update.

7. WebP and AVIF image formats are not currently supported

WebP and AVIF image files cannot be uploaded to a Media Product at this time. Support for these formats will be added shortly. In the meantime, please use JPEG or PNG files.

8. Quickshot visuals can only be published from the Quickshot interface

At this time, Quickshot visuals must be published directly from the Quickshot interface in order to become available in the Curator. Publishing from other entry points is not currently supported.

FAQ

Can I use lifestyle images instead of silo shots to generate new lifestyle images?

Yes. You can use lifestyle images as the source for a Media Product. However, we recommend removing the background before placing the image on the 2D canvas, as this allows the generation method to work most effectively. New editing features are on the roadmap that will expand how new visuals can be generated — including starting directly from an existing lifestyle image.

Can I feature more than one instance of the same product in the same visual?

Yes. When a product layer is selected on the canvas, a duplicate option is available. This applies to both Media Products and Master Asset products, allowing you to place multiple instances of the same product within a single visual.

Can I use Quickshot for products that are not furniture or home décor?

Quickshot is currently intended for lifestyle imagery featuring furniture and home décor products. It may work for other product categories, but results will vary. The versatility of the tool will increase with future updates.

Can a Media Product be converted into a Master Asset?

Yes. When a Cylindo Master Asset is ready for a product that was previously set up as a Media Product, the product will automatically upgrade to a Master Asset. No manual conversion is required.

Is there a limit to how many images I can upload per Media Product?

No. There is no hard limit on the number of images that can be uploaded to a Media Product.
