The goal of this approach is to lower the production time and to align the quality and standards by combining the AR Low Poly modeling with the Viewer High Poly modeling into one single model that will be used for both use cases. Since the Low Poly model is needed regardless if it is just for AR or it is saved just in case edits are required on the High Poly Viewer model along the way, the aim is to have that one model adjusted to meet the requirements for both AR and Viewer modules.
This is the latest Cylindo production process that allows us to have a more streamlined and more standardized modeling process from start to finish:
With the Subdiv Modeling process, the production is much more linear. The modelers submit both Low Poly and High Poly versions of the product, and the same internal QA checks both versions of the model while the client reviews only the Viewer version. Both QA comments and client feedback are addressed on the same model. Once the Viewer version is approved, that means that the AR version is automatically approved since they are basically the same model.
With the Subdiv Modeling process, the turnaround production time, as well as the amount of feedback, are cut in half, while the production capacity of AR products is doubled. Because of this, the rule is that all of the models provided by modelers should contain both Low Poly and High Poly versions of the model. Legacy products that do not contain low poly version of the same, should be updated in order to meet the current pipeline standards (to be AR compatible).
