Before the 3D content is created and ready to use, we need you to confirm that all of the content we create meets your quality standard before we go live.
There are four separate review processes throughout a project:
- Product Data Review Process
- 3D Materials Review Process
- 3D Models Review Process
- Final Delivery Review Process
When the quality expectations of the materials and models are confirmed, we then combine these parts together through our technology, to create the final 3D product.
Product Data Review Process
When the product data is collected and the minimum requirements are verified by Cylindo you’ll be asked to confirm if:
- All Products Names and Values are correctly inserted in the CMS
2. Product dimensions are accurate in the CMS
When there is a mismatch in information – for example, the technical drawings contradict what we are seeing in the reference images – you will be asked to specify which one we should follow.
3. All Product Images are provided and accurately show the product.
Technical drawing confirmed it has the valid dimensions
In cases where products appear different in different images, again you will be asked which one we should follow.
Sofa with two cushions confirmed as the valid reference
4. All Features and Options have been provided and their Codes are accurate in the CMS
The 3D quality that Cylindo creates is highly dependent on the product data that is provided. Please ensure that all the above standards have been met before handing the product over to us, as we create what we are given.
3D Material Review Process
After receiving the material data (physical or digital), Cylindo creates and delivers all the 3D materials that are part of the project for review.
3D Material Delivery Format
The entire revision is processed through Cylindo’s CMS where the delivery format of the materials is a 360 degrees rotation Viewers with 8 or 32 frames and 4k zoom resolution.
Materials are applied to several different furniture pieces in order to illustrate as much as possible all the different material characteristics.
A smaller piece like an ottoman where the material details are more visible
A bigger piece, like a multiseat sofa where the material is applied on a larger surface and therefore details, are less visible
It might be decided for additional geometries to be delivered depending on the variety of sizes and shapes of the products that are part of the project. If this is decided but the specific 3D models are not yet developed, Cylindo will deliver the materials on generic 3D models that are as close to the product as we can provide.
The reason for this is the way we perceive the appearance of the 3D materials. Mainly, their appearance might be influenced by the shape, size, and the distance of the surfaces on which they are applied and the environment they are in.
3D Material Review Details
After you receive the 360 HD Viewers for Material Review, it will be required that you review the structure and the color of the delivered 3D material files through the CMS.
Please keep in mind that the quality of the 3D material is directly dependent on the type and the quality of the material data.

Review of Material Structure
Refers to the material specifics such as smooth or bumpy, soft or rough, repetitive, or random throughout, shiny or matt, etc. Of course, it is expected that different material types will have different specifics.

Review of Material Color
This is about getting the material color close to an acceptable commercial representation of the same.
When reviewing materials, you must take into consideration how different lights affect the appearance of color. In addition, the circumstances under which the materials are reviewed have a significant impact on how their colors are perceived.
Different View Angles affect the appearance of the material color
Different monitors offer a different visual experience of the same material color
The appearance of the physical materials are dependant on the light source
Considering the above, the only accurate approach in reviewing the color is comparing the Cylindo renders against the references we create digitally.
Please note: The wrong impression is unavoidable if comparing physical vs. digital material

3D Material Review Phases
Cylindo will submit the material design families for revision as they are done.
In rare cases when the material design families have more than 10 color variations, it might be decided that the delivery is separated into two steps.
The first step would be to get approval on some selected fabrics to ensure structure and the look of the material is correct. Once this is confirmed the remaining color variants can then be created and approved.

3D Material Review Approval Process
You will have the opportunity to review the materials as they are created by the Cylindo team within the associated Project, under the ‘Review’ tab.
At the top of the ‘Review’ page, you will see a status bar showing the progress your team has made towards reviewing all pending materials.
The materials themselves will appear as overview cards that will show:
- The status of the individual material’s review
- The name of the material
- and the material code.
At the bottom of the page, you will see a list of all issues that have been reported and which materials they were reported on.
Once you are ready to begin reviewing materials, click the ‘Start Review’ button located within the status bar.
You will be brought to the Materials Review Tool where you will see your pending materials list to the left and the material selected front and center. Choose between which references or geometries you would like to compare the material to and use the slider to switch between views.
From there, you can use the self-service color correction and issue reporting features to make adjustments:
Issue Reporting Tool
If you find that there are some issues to the structure of the material, click on the ‘Issues’ button.
Choose the geometry that the issue is located on, click on the area that you would like to identify, and type the description in the box that appears. You are also able to draw on the image if there is a region you’d like to mark and you may add attachments for more context.
All issues will be added to the unresolved list. After you have reported all issues, you may return to the material overview page and submit back to Cylindo. This counts for one round of reviews that are included in your contract, so make sure that you include all issues that you are aware of at the time you submit so as not to go over your allotted rounds of review.
Once the Cylindo team has resolved the issues, they will send the material back with changes and it will repopulate into your list of materials that need to be reviewed on your Project overview page. The first round of reviews that have been resolved will have been moved to the ‘resolved’ column on the issue reporting tool for that material, as well as the issue overview list on the Project page.
You can see all the details of a reported issue by clicking on the ‘details’ button of the issue card in question. From there, you will see which geometry it had been reported on, who reported the issue, when it was reported, etc.
Self-service Color Correction Tool
If you notice that the color of your material does not match the reference image or you would like to make changes to the material file, simply hit the ‘Color correction’ button and you will be given the ability to adjust the exposure, brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation.
Any changes you make here will be applied to the actual material and saved to the GLTF file. Therefore, any changes made using the color adjustment feature will be final so you may approve right away.
Back on the Material review page, click approve, approve with changes, or reject and it will move you down the list to the next material to be reviewed, moving the approved one into the ‘reviewed’ column.
3D Models Review Process
Once the product data is collected and verified, Cylindo creates and delivers 3D models that are part of the project for review.
3D Models Delivery Format
The review of the models is processed through Cylindo’s CMS where the delivery format for them is a 360 degrees rotation Viewers with 8 frames and 4k zoom resolution.
In case of multiple material types throughout the project such as linen solid fabric, patterned linen fabric, leather with higher shine, painted wood finish, natural wood finish, etc. each model might be delivered in several preselected material types and each in multiple colors.
This is required in order for us to:
- Set expectations that different material types will have some influence on how the model looks such as Leather vs Linen Fabric.

Details such as wrinkles appear differently due to a different material type
Additional Light Grades
-
- Confirm the specific flow of materials such as patterned fabrics or wood finish with grain. This information should already be part of the provided product data and therefore should be correct.
Note that the application direction of the material is actually related to the geometry of the product and not the material itself.
Cases where the material flow is different on separate model surfaces
Alongside the reviews, we will provide a matching file that illustrates the accuracy of the 3D model representation of the product.

3D Models Review Details
After you receive the 8 frames 360 HD viewers, it will be required of you to review the overall shape, proportions, and details of the delivered 3D models through our CMS.
Please keep in mind that the overall quality of the 3D models and the level of their details are directly dependent on the type and the quality of the product data.
Result based on basic product imagery where there are no seams
Result based on additional detailed product imagery where seams are visible
Considering this, please use the CMS to see what has been provided as product data and use this to review the products, not new references that were never provided in the first place.
In case of multiple product data sources e.g. 3D models, spec sheets, dimensions, image references, etc. for the review purposes, use only those that have been confirmed as a true source of reference in the product data phase.
Revision of the Overall Shape & Proportions
By now you should be aware that we model the given dimensions of the products by measuring them from end to end as bounding boxes if not specified otherwise e.g from seam to seam, in the product data phases.
Measuring model from end to end
Considering this please take a look if the dimensions look visually correct.
All proportions are made according to the provided imagery. Do the proportions look visually correct?
As mentioned in the delivery format for the models, Cylindo also matches the wireframe of the 3D model on top of the reference images to make sure all proportions are correct as well.
Do note that the shape and proportions of the 3D model in the final render might be perceived differently compared to the reference image used for creating the same. The reason for this is the camera angle and lens that you have selected during the setup phase to be used to create the 3D image will differ from those on the image reference.
This may then create a different appearance of the product versus the original reference images due to the camera angle, but the accuracy of the models will be to the product data.

Review of Details
This review should focus on the placement and the type of accompanying product elements such as seams, welts, nailheads, glides, screws, logo tags, pillow corners, etc.
If not agreed otherwise in the phase of collecting and confirming the product data the size and the shape of these elements will come from our standard offering:
- size and shape of stitching
- radius of welts
- depth of tufting
- size of buttons
- nailheads
- depth and definition of wrinkles
- types of seams
- complete bedding
So please only comment on aspects such as confirming seam placement or are the correct seam types used for this product (eg. topstitch, double-needle, etc.)
Types of Seams & Welt on an upholstered product
During the model review process, please always consider the hand made nature of the item, especially with upholstered items or hand made wood items. Any small deviation that can be attributed to the hand made nature of the item should not be subject to comments. Cylindo 3D models are built by artists who shape the item in 3D based on the given reference imagery.
Review Rounds
It is important that you base your review on the provided product data. The 3D models are created according to the provided product data so different references or logic beyond that will be missed. Therefore, the review is relevant if it is based on the data you have provided us with.
The usual number of iterations to get to the standard 3D model quality does not exceed more than a maximum of 3. In the case of any major misalignment on model output expectations, we will find a mutual way to resolve that and get back on track.
Whenever there are requirements for Cylindo to go beyond the standard quality, the effort for accommodating those requirements will be evaluated and charged for.
Final Delivery Review Process
When the 3D materials on a certain product and its 3D model are approved Cylindo will do a full product delivery.
Final Delivery Format
The final and complete Products will be submitted through Cylindo's CMS as 360 degrees rotation viewers with 32 frames and 4k zoom resolution.
32 Frame 360 HD Viewer with 4K resolution
Of course, in cases where the agreement was for Cylindo to develop the 360 viewers with 8 frames and 4K zoom resolution, it should be expected for the final Viewers to be delivered in this format.
Final Delivery Review Details
It is required that this revision process confirms if all that has been approved in the previous revision processes is properly applied to the final products:
- Is the product configuration logic accurate
- Are all product features and options accounted for
- Are the correct product, features, and options values assigned
- Is the latest 3D model used
- Are the materials applied as they have been approved
- Has the other product specifics e.g material flow, being applied as agreed
Final Delivery Revision Rounds
The final content is based on what has been already approved and agreed in all of the previous processes therefore, it is not expected that any revision rounds will be required.
In case of a major misalignment on the product output expectations, we will find a mutual way to resolve and complete the delivery.
Whenever there are requirements for Cylindo to change what has been approved or agreed, the effort for accommodating those requirements will be evaluated and charged for.
Your Customer Success Manager will give you a comprehensive training session on how to use the Review section in the CMS, and together with your Project Manager, they will be available for any questions you might have.
